Perched atop a private hill, Kumarhatti is a low density luxury living development in the foothills of Himalayas, being built on a 3.1 acre site. Located on the lovely sun-washed sloped, each bespoke structure has expansive scenic view and privacy in the lap of nature.
Minimizing the ecological footprint was a key driver for the project which guided us to build around the trees without cutting a single one of them. While being ecologically sensitive we also ended up using the stone quarried from the site. With floor-to-ceiling glass walls that allow unobstructed view of the mountains, the overall vibe is more pavilion and less indoor living. As the spaces were designed to take up a horizontal sprawl, we worked on heightening the geometry with high ceilings and other nifty structural touches.
